Clay is the primary medium for producing models for Bronze, or Carving stone. Clay modeling is an additive process. One may add or remove clay indefinitely. This is known as clay modeling, and not sculpture. To Sculpt is a reduction process. Bronzes are only Sculpturesque.
In the last 50 years we have lost the art of clay modeling, and sculpting in stone. Lazy abounds with sculptors these days, especially the foundries, who need mass production to stay afloat. I am an avid follower of the classical tradition, and understand the whys and wherefores for sculptural process and compositions. You won't find me dressing up manikins and painting them with epoxy resin. I can model the life size figure in clay in a fraction of the time most foundries take, and I can do it much cheaper. I have an intimate knowledge of composition, anatomy and drapery.
