Utilitas

Latin:Utilitas

Utility: useful Good

Greek

προϊόν (proïón) Product

παραγωγή (paragogí) Production

Second Principle or Utilitas

Arrangement should be considered useful to the eye, and tell the viewer the story. The useful arrangement results in an intellectual understanding that elevates the viewer to a greater understanding of ones self.

Boyle interpreted Utilitas, to be commodity.

If we examine utility with the idea of it being the product, a product of what? A man sitting on a bench? Well, that is just fatuous, silly and stupid. I dare even say that sort of subject may even attribute to some type of brain damage.

I dare say a product of the complete whole, movement arrangement and thought. The message might be just beauty as seen by the artist itself. A sort of Bel Compasto.
